Some games  do not allow players to cheat. However, some games have cheating as a special kind of strategy, this is called bluffing. It is possible to distinguish two types of bluffing poker strategy - the so called Pure Bluff and Semi-Bluff. First let’s familiarize with the pure bluffing that may be called as simply bluffing.

To bluff is to bet or raise if you obtain very bad hand with no chances to win. The purpose of bluffing is to win the pot in case your hand is “garbage” or not strong enough to beat your opponents’ hands. If you are bluffing you pretend and force the other players believe that you have strong cards. In such a way you make more and more poker players with really strong hands quit. So, bluffing poker tactic sounds quite attractive strategic approach in poker game but bear in mind that it works only when you use it smartly.

Poker gambling is associated with bluffs but don’t fool yourself. It is not possible to use bluffing poker strategy and win every time. And remember that other gamblers may bluff as professionally as you do or even much better. In poker games with limit betting structures bluffing strategy is simply waste of time as you do not have enough opportunities to bluff. It is obvious that in higher limit poker versions bluffing works much better. No Limit Hold’em is the best game to for bluffing. Furthermore, when you bluff take into consideration your table position because it is the most essential in any poker tactic and bluffing. If you occupy the early position you have the chance to steal the blind bets by bluffing. However,  try not to use it often.

Some players want their bluffing poker actions to be noticed. As a result other gamblers can call later in case the hand is really high and the gamblers don’t bluff. This is very good tactic but may be too expensive.

Semi-bluffing is usually applied if the poker hand is not strong enough to win now but it can be improved later. Your aim is to make more gamblers give up after you post bet. If the players call your bet anyway you have chances to get better hand and win the pot. Semi-bluffing is the most successful in case you have the flush or straight draw. So you can use semi-bluff more often than the pure bluffing poker strategy, however, remember that it is effective only in when you have the opportunity for hand improvement. Additionally, don’t overuse bluffs since it leads to the decrease of its productivity.
